A Brief History of Jared

I was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1989 and lived there until I was seven years old. My family then moved back to Seattle, where my parents are from, and we lived there for four years. We then moved to Sydney, Australia for three years before moving back to Seattle again. I did my undergraduate studies at The University of Southern California. After graduating with a BSc in Physics and a minor in Math, I started graduate school at UC Santa Barbara.

My Music Interests

I play guitar and sing, and these days music is one of the main ways I stay connected to Denver. I regularly play at open mics around the city and have gotten involved in the local singer-songwriter community, where I get to try out songs, hear what other people are working on, and keep getting better in public.

Backpacking and Traveling

I've been on countless trips to other countries with my family ever since I was a baby. We traveled to Guam, Saipan, and Taiwan while living in Japan, the San Juan Islands, Vancouver B.C., and Yellowstone while living in Seattle, Bali, Tasmania, New Zealand, the Great Barrier Reef, and Northern Australia while living in Sydney, along with Peru, the U.K. and a bunch of other places that I can't remember at the moment. I am an Eagle Scout and love to go on backpacking trips. I am a certified Rescue Scuba Diver and have been diving in several different countries, mostly with warm water.
